Turn off shadows and you can probably play on an older card.
NWN2: Video card resource beast! I had to get a new video card to play this, but the graphics are not earth-shattering good, but pretty good. Warlock class was new, and very fun to play (don't need to rest to cast). NWN2: New prestige classes, better graphics, but a lot more talking then fighting then NWN1. I got this for NWN2 expansions because it was easier to buy this then them separately. Search the internet for help with those (game banshee and Bioware's board (?!) seem to be a good source).Īll in all, would not pay full price for each (any?) of the NWN2 titles, but this bundle is good. So, what's the point of companions? Combat support, I guess.Īlso, ALERT (might be Win7) that I had to drop to console a couple times because triggers in NWN2 failed. The camera controls are HORRIBLE, too touchy and impossible to fix at an angle.Īlso neither series lets you use companions' skills in place of your own (diplomacy, forging/creating, etc). Typical favoring of combat types at early levels and magic and charisma types at mid levels and combat again at high levels. Just sayin' - if you are looking for a UI that gets out of the way, NWN2 ain't it. However, NWN2's UI is a disappointment (not Bioware, I know).
NWN2 vs NWN1: I played NWN1 back in the day and loved it - Bioware dragged me along for KOTOR and Jade Empire because of it. I think I'm a version behind the latest as reported, but not sure. NWN2 has crashed on resume game, but not in the middle of anything yet. Installer fails for DirectX, but game still works (I guess my Win7 DX or whatever supplanted it is mostly compatible). Players can take on full versions of Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark, Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of the Undertide, Neverwinter Nights: Kingmaker, Neverwinter Nights 2, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, Neverwinter Nights 2: Adventure Pack - Mysteries of Westgate, and Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir.Good value (I got it a week ago for about fifty percent less than Amazon has it now). This compilation from Atari offers gamers eight complete titles from the Neverwinter Nights offshoot of the expansive Dungeons & Dragons catalog.
